RT-55J's Level Collection
Last Update: December 20, 2011

This is my collection of levels. It contains almost every level I've made in Jetpack since 2005. I recall making some levels before then, but I don't have any of them and they probably are all terrible.

Some time in 2010 the author of Jetpack announced that he would be remaking this game, and made a call for fans to submit levels and content for the game. I took this as an opportunity to go through my older levels and bring them up to my current standards, though I found a few unsalvageable. In the end, I submitted 26 levels, and over a dozen of them made the cut.

Ratings are based on how much I'd personally recommend the level, though I might be being a bit hypercritical in a few instances.

   LEVELS
============

ARTEE001.JET - Three Too Mini
-= Rating: B+
It's a trackbot level, a marble worm level, and a rocket chain level, all in one nice little package.

---------------------------------
ARTEE002.JET - Marble Vase
-= Rating: B-
I had to do quite a bit of wrangling to get this concept under control. I still have an older (nigh-unrecognizable) version of this in my levels folder, and believe me when I say it was a mess.

---------------------------------
ARTEE003.JET - Infiltration
-= Rating: C+
This level is a shameless rip off of the official level "Mission Possible", and was in fact once called Mission Possible 2 at one point

---------------------------------
ARTEE004.JET - Munitions Factory
-= Rating: A-
I believe that this level was originally a rip off of the "pie factory" stage from Donkey Kong. A few years later I decided to redo it completely, taking some inspiration from the official level "Underground".

---------------------------------
ARTEE005.JET - Hey Guys This Is My Name
-= Rating: C
Shameless rip-off of the level that plays in the game's attract mode ("Logo"), with an added narcissic touch.

---------------------------------
ARTEE006.JET - Jet-Pac -2600
-= Rating: D-
Terrible level. The official game does this concept much better in the level "Jet-Pac". The maze is based of the Atari 2600 version.

---------------------------------
ARTEE007.JET - From Russia
-= Rating: D+
Another dumb level based off some old videogame (this time: TETRIS).

---------------------------------
ARTEE008.JET - Jetroid
-= Rating: C
Yet another level based off an old videogame. This time it's half decent.

---------------------------------
ARTEE009.JET - Ice Cap Lair
-= Rating: B
Inspired by the official level "Hideout"

---------------------------------
ARTEE010.JET - Fools Gold
-= Rating: B-
A bonus level that uses the trope of "You Can Get All of This Stuff if You're Willing to Risk Life and Limb"

---------------------------------
ARTEE011.JET - Blue Switch Paradise
-= Rating: C+
Mute your speakers before playing this. Getting the time-stopper at the beginning of the level requires abusing a collision detection bug/oddity.

---------------------------------
ARTEE012.JET - Jetroid 2
-= Rating: B
Made this a couple years after the original Jetroid, and I'm significantly more pround of it.

---------------------------------
ARTEE013.JET - Shining Dawn
-= Rating: B-
Kind of a bonus level, but not really.

---------------------------------
ARTEE014.JET - Kongstruction Site
-= Rating: C
Oh hey it's another one of _those_ levels.

---------------------------------
ARTEE015.JET - Unlimited Precision
-= Rating: F
Dumb masocore-type thing. Not fun in the slightest, although there's a sequence break near the start that trivializes the ordeal.

---------------------------------
ARTEE016.JET - Rotational Symmetry
-= Rating: C-
It's rotationally symmetric! (and way too cramped)

---------------------------------
ARTEE017.JET - Super Jetroid
-= Rating: C
This is just a mess, but somehow the author thought it was good enough for the remake. This level would definitely benefit from the extra couple of rows said remake provides, but I think trying to refactor it would just fry my brain.

---------------------------------
ARTEE018.JET - Breakfast
-= Rating: B+
Nice, simple, easy, and cute. What more could you ask for?

---------------------------------
ARTEE019.JET - Fuel Limit
-= Rating: A-
This used to have a resemblance to an area from a popular videogame, but then I decided to turn it into an actual level. The ending segment could use some work.

---------------------------------
ARTEE020.JET - Thief in the Night
-= Rating: B+
Another bonus level.

---------------------------------
ARTEE021.JET - The Gateway
-= Rating: A
I like how the challenges here are seperate and yet work so well together.

---------------------------------
ARTEE022.JET - The Clamshell
-= Rating: B
Doesn't resemble a clam in the slightest, so I'm not sure where the name comes from.

---------------------------------
ARTEE023.JET - Flypaper
-= Rating: B-
A clever concept that didn't work quite as well as I had hoped. The bats' AI is a bit too finicky to be influenced as well as I'd like.

---------------------------------
ARTEE024.JET - Hanging Gardens
-= Rating: B
I made this level after playing a romhack called "Metroid Eris", which inspired me to make something that goes a bit overboard with graphical touches.

---------------------------------
ARTEE025.JET - Locked In
-= Rating: B+
I think I almost outdid myself here, but there's some niggling issues with this one that prevent me from recommending it wholeheartedly.

---------------------------------
ARTEE026.JET - The Funnel
-= Rating: B-
I designed this level while listening to the main song from "Monty on the Run". IIRC, it's possible to get all of the treasure or to get the extra life, but not both if you intend to win.

---------------------------------
ARTEE027.JET - Enter: Jetman
-= Rating: B
After submitting the previous levels for the remake, the author requested that we fans make a few easier, tutorial-type levels. This is my attempt at a "first level", though I never got around to submitting it.

---------------------------------
ARTEE028.JET - Switch Places, Switch Blocks
-= Rating: B
Another tutorial level. This one is about teleporters and switches.

---------------------------------
ARTEE029.JET - Rogue Gallery
-= Rating: C
Another tutorial level. This one introduces most of the enemies.

---------------------------------
ARTEE030.JET - Cube
-= Rating: B
I've had the basic shape of this level sitting around in my levels folder for quite a while, but it wasn't until rather recently that I figured out how to turn it into an actual level

---------------------------------
ARTEE031.JET - Enemy Mines
-= Rating: B-
I felt the hankering to make a level based off the Thrust-clone Sub-Terrania (for the Sega Genesis), and determined that the fourth level was best suited for this game. As with the source material, fuel management is key.

---------------------------------
ARTEE032.JET - The Waterfall
-= Rating: B+
This is like the official level "It's Not Raining Rain", except that the randomness is not stifling and terrible.

---------------------------------
ARTEE033.JET - Emergency Landing
-= Rating: A-
Came up with the idea for this level after seeing a level that started with a freefall. I started the design by asking the question "why would he be falling in the first place?", and from there the ideas just flowed naturally. Also, possibly my first attempt at making a.r.t.

---------------------------------
ARTEE034.JET - Sunday Stroll
-= Rating: C
I once saw a "Castlevania" levelpack where the first level was literally an obstacle-less walk to the entrance of the castle. I thought I might do something vaguely (vaguely) interesting with the concept.

---------------------------------
ARTEE035.JET - Hemoglobin Highway
-= Rating: B+
The title of this level here comes from a song from the TV show Phineas & Ferb. The enemy placement could probably use some fine-tuning. This level would probably go well with a Halloween graphics pack.

---------------------------------
ARTEE036.JET - Hold On Tight
-= Rating: C+
Here I was trying to go for the sensation of having no solid ground underfoot. The result is merely an exercise in pixeljumping, which isn't the game's forte to say the least.
